At the peak of dynamics
HERZ Pressure independent control valves

Dynamic valves ensure efficient and controlled distribution of the heating medium in a heating system. Regardless of whether it is a full or partial load range, each part of the system is supplied with the required amount of energy at all times thanks to the use of dynamic valves. Hydraulic balancing can be ensured by the interaction of various static and dynamic valves. Or by a single product: HERZ Pressure independent control valves.

Dynamic control and regulating valves are the be-all and end-all when it comes to hydronic balancing. Hydronic balancing ensures an efficient heat supply in a heating system and makes a significant contribution to cost savings. What exactly does this mean?

Heat distribution in building technology depends on many different factors: How close are you to the main manifold? What output does the pump have? Which valves and regulators are in operation? Have the settings of the individual valves been adjusted correctly? How many end users are there?...

Apart from the technical skills of the experts during planning and installation, there is another important point that influences the heat supply in the individual parts of the system: The end user.

What influence does the end user has on the heat distribution?

The different room temperature requirements of the individual consumers have a direct influence on the uniform, or rather, the required supply of heat in all parts of the system. These differences lead to fluctuations in the flow and pressure conditions in the system. As a result, not every end consumer receives the required and desired amount of heat. It is a well-known fact that the heating medium in heating systems follows the path of least resistance. The resulting problems are familiar to installers and property developers: ‘The heating doesn't work’ or ‘There are noises coming from the radiator.’ calls from end users.

It would be great if...

... there would be a product that could react automatically to changing flow and pressure conditions.

... a product could supply all parts of the system with the required amount of heat.

... a product with a single setting and simple installation could compensate for external pressure fluctuations within the differential pressure range.

HERZ has the solution

There is no room for the subjunctive at HERZ. HERZ Pressure independent control valve is the product that anticipates these wishes. Over the last few years, HERZ has fulfilled the requirements of planners, installers and users with extensive product innovations with the introduction of the HERZ Pressure independent control valve. Simplified design, high comfort and the best possible energy efficiency are the results.

The functionalities of several valves are combined in the housing of the HERZ Pressure independent control valve. Control valve, regulating valve, differential pressure controller, isolation valve and measuring orifice are combined to save costs and space. Simple operation with setting of the desired flow rate as a percentage of the maximum flow rate also saves commissioning time.

The functionality

The combination valve can be used in all pump-operated heating and cooling systems. External pressure fluctuations are equalised within the differential pressure range, making the combination valve independent of differential pressure. The valve automatically limits the volume flow in the selected system section to the set value by detecting and compensating for all pressure fluctuations. This means that no measurements are required and the control is effective under all operating conditions.

HERZ Pressure independent control valve SMART 4406 / 4206

The geometry of the housing of the HERZ Pressure independent control valve SMART with article number 4406 or 4206, which is cast from dezincification-resistant brass, has been optimised for both water flow and casting quality. With larger flow rates, this results in only minor additional pressure losses in the housing and the set pressure is kept at a low level. At the same time, favourable casting conditions are achieved, ensuring a high quality of the housing. With a maximum operating pressure of up to 25 bar, HERZ Pressure independent control valve SMART is available in the dimensions DN 15 to DN 20.

Flange version F 4006

HERZ is one of the few leading manufacturers to develop and produce large Pressure Independent Control Valves with flanged connections. A sophisticated design with a robust diaphragm, generously dimensioned and precisely machined control parts and full pressure relief ensures precise flow control and stable set pressures. The flanged version of the product also has three measuring valves. The flanged version is available with a maximum operating pressure of up to 16 bar in the dimensions DN 50 to DN 250.
