As part of a nationwide decarbonization program, the New Zealand Ministry of Education is equipping public schools with sustainable heating technology – and solutions from HERZ Energietechnik are also on board. At Southland Boys' High School in Invercargill, a complete bio heating system from HERZ now ensures well-tempered classrooms: a HERZ BioFire 1500 with cyclone, screw discharge, chimney system and two 5,000-liter buffer tanks were installed. The 1 megawatt system is pellet-fired – efficient, automatic, and low-CO₂. Founded in 1881, the school is New Zealand's only state-run boys' school for grades 7 to 13 and stands for education with vision – in keeping with its motto: Non Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus – “We learn not for school, but for life.”
