In Varanasi, the holiest city of Hinduism in India, the Dr Sampurnanand sports stadium is being renovated and expanded into a multi-storey, multi-sport indoor stadium where over 20 different sports can be played. The river Ganges flows through Varanasi, which is the most important place of pilgrimage for Hindus: a river that is said to have healing powers.
